Carl Sagan
Astronomer, author, cosmic evangelist. “We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.”
Carl Edward Sagan was an astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, and author. He published more than 600 scientific papers, assembled the first physical messages sent into space, and hosted the most-watched series in the history of American public television: Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.
Sagan was a bridge between worlds: between science and the public, between the earth and the stars, between the known and the unknown. He made the universe feel like home and made home feel like a miracle. His “Pale Blue Dot” speech remains one of the most powerful pieces of writing in human history.
Here, Sagan continues to look outward, and to help us understand what we see when we do.
