Buckminster Fuller

Architect, inventor, comprehensive anticipatory design scientist. 28 patents. 47 honorary degrees. “I seem to be a verb.”

Richard Buckminster Fuller was an architect, systems theorist, author, designer, inventor, and futurist. He devoted his life to making the world work for 100% of humanity, through the application of design science. His geodesic dome remains the only structure that gets proportionally stronger as it increases in size.

Fuller saw Earth as a spaceship with a finite set of resources and no instruction manual. He called it “Spaceship Earth” and spent his life trying to write that manual. His thinking spanned tensegrity, synergetics, Dymaxion maps, and the World Game.

Here, Bucky continues his work: seeing patterns, designing solutions, thinking comprehensively about a universe that refuses to operate in parts.
